Christmas Launch at The Hazel House

Join us on the 22nd November for the launch of Christmas at The Hazel House. There will be mulled wine, mince pies, Christmas tunes, special offers, a raffle, kids' crafts and more. The event will run all day from 10am to 5pm. No better way to get into the Christmas spirit than by sipping on a warm mulled wine by the wood burning stove with some Christmas tunes in the background! And why not use your visit to pick up a few Christmas cards and gifts from Irish crafters and support local this Christmas!

Christmas Parties at The Hazel House

So Halloween is over and it is now legal to start using the C-word! We are very excited to announce The Hazel House Christmas party packages! We are collaborating with our sister business, Kanum Thai to offer friends of The Hazel House Christmas dinner parties for 12-25 people. There are three party packages available at €28, €30 and €33 which you can see above.

All three packages include:

Full private use of The Hazel House for you and your guests from 8pm-12pm
You are welcome to BYOB

A server to serve your guests and clean up afterwards
A cosy Christmas atmosphere you and your guests with the fire lit and the Christmas music on
Mains are a choice of three from their menu and starters are a platter selection

At an extra charge we can:

Arrange transport to and from The Hazel House for your guests

We will make our best effort to tailor the packages to suit the particular needs of you and your guests. We can cater for vegetarians, vegans, gluten and dairy free etc. Please note that The Hazel House is fully wheelchair accessible. We have and entrance ramp and a wheelchair accessible toilet. If you have any questions or would like to book, please don't hesitate to contact us.

The Hazel House Doggy Friend of the Month Competition: October

Buster is our Mr October!

Here are all the lovely doggy friends of The Hazel House we had the pleasure of meeting in October! From pure breds to mutts to Heinz 57s, all dogs are welcome at The Hazel House. We provide doggy treats, a water bowl and doggy parking! Every month, the doggy with the most likes on Facebook gets crowned Hazel House doggy friend of the month and wins a special doggy treat from Eco Mutt!

This month the dog with the most likes was our youngest doggy friend ever, at three and a half months old, little Buster, with 21 likes on Facebook! Well done Buster, be sure to pop up to The Hazel House to collect your treat!

The Hazel House doggie friend of the month for October is starting up today so be sure to bring your furry friend when you visit The Hazel House and they might be crowned our Ms/Mr November!

Kid's Parties at The Hazel House

The Hazel House are now hosting kid's birthday parties! A completely unique venue for you little one's special day. We are the only venue in Ireland providing kids woodwork parties! For just €15 per child you get:

2.5 hours at The Hazel House café and woodwork school

The children can meet, pet and feed The Hazel House animals including Hairy Mary the Shetland pony, Edwina the donkey and Bert and Ernie the sheep and goat. They will learn about the animals; how we look after them, their names and their best friends.
They will get to see a real wood workshop and learn about different types of trees, wood and how The Hazel House furniture and wooden crafts are made

Each child gets to make a special personalised wooden plate with their name on it in The Hazel House Work With Wood Workshop which they can take this home with them when they are finished

Each child gets a drink and a treat

You are welcome to use the adjacent field for games

We can also tailor a package to suit you and your party. For example we can arrange facepainting or a kid's movie of your choice on the big screen. To book a kid's party at The Hazel House just get in touch.

New to The Hazel House: Ewe Sir Wildlife Prints and Stationery

How adorable are these?! Brand new to The Hazel House; wildlife prints and stationery from Irish crafter Molly Ellis at Ewe Sir.

Molly's wildlife art is designed with the individual character and personality of each animal in mind to awaken nature in the hearts and homes of the owner. Her work is made from a range of natural and collected materials, such as raw wool fibres, preserved flora, and vintage fabrics. She transforms these into endearing and unusual gifts and collectibles for the animal lover, dreamer and nature enthusiast.

Her range at The Hazel House includes prints, calendars and notebooks and features Irish wildlife like foxes, birds and deer.

Prices range from €8 for a pack of two notebooks up to €75 for a large framed wildlife print. We reckon they would make a gorgeous gift for any animal lover!

The Hazel House Work With Wood Weekend Course

Take a look at the amazing work these two did at The Hazel House Work With Wood Weekend! Amazingly, neither of them had ever worked with wood before and they both went home with a beautiful handmade piece of furniture after just two days. They learned about measuring, cutting, sanding, varnishing and using tools and came away with new skills and a great piece of furniture to treasure forever.

Little Green Dot at The Hazel House

So excited to announce the arrival of our newest crafter, Little Green Dot. Lisa Tonge is the woman behind Little Green Dot. Lisa make beautiful bandana baby bibs and cosy hats which are now available in The Hazel House and in our online shop.

Lisa is originally from Dublin and now living in Clonakilty in west Cork. She originally started making baby gifts for her friends and family. She honed her skills over the years and opened Little Green Dot to rave reviews in October 2013.

We are delighted to be stocking Little Green Dot products which are Irish made, eco-friendly and comfy and cosy for babies to wear!

Fairy Magic at The Hazel House!

Something incredibly exciting happened at The Hazel House this weekend. Our very own woodland fairy moved in the kiddie's corner in The Hazel House! We left out a key for her beside the door and in the morning it was gone and Hazelina had moved in! Hazelina has to work to earn her keep here and one of her jobs is to pare the pencils that the children use to do their colouring in the kiddie's corner. I will keep you posted on Hazelina's comings and goings!

The Hazel House is Famous!

The Hazel House had a big week with not one, not two, but three radio slots! On Monday Niall spoke to John Murray on RTE Radio 1 about The Hazel House honesty box system. If you want to listen back to that interview you can do so here (skip to 50:00 to hear Niall). Then on Tuesday I spoke to Lauren and Gordon from The Spin on Spin 103.8 again about The Hazel House honesty box. Finally, on Saturday Niall spoke to the good people at South East Radio.

It all started last Saturday when Peter Bodkin wrote and article in The Journal about our honesty box system. So thank you Peter for the lovely write up! You can have a look at all of our five minutes of fame here!

This month the dog with the most likes was beautiful Jerry the springer spaniel with an amazing 57 likes on Facebook. Since Jerry's mammy is the creator of Eco Mutt, it is only fair that we have two winners this month so Jerry and Elton (with 30 likes) are our winners! Well done Jerry and Elton, be sure to pop up to The Hazel House to collect your treats!
